Ruth Carroll
Translator, Language Specialist
Ruth is an experienced translator and broadcaster who grew up in the NWT’s Mackenzie Delta, in Fort McPherson and territory around the Peel and Rat Rivers. A member of the Tetlit Gwich'in, she attended residential school for nine years but returned home each summer, surrounded by fluent speakers including her mother Lucy Vaneltsi. Ruth hosted CBC North’s Gwich’in radio show for 15 years and is thankful for this opportunity to improve her fluency. She also has translated for CHON-FM, Nedaa and others, and taught Gwich’in to high school students. She lives in Whitehorse.
